Rowing for Olympic glory with Ferrari and FINE™/Marine

NUMECA International is glad to welcome Ferrari as one of its latest FINE™/Marine customers: The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and Ferrari have selected FINE™/Marine to optimize their rowing boat for the 2012 Olympics.
The Ferrari team’s Luciano Mariella underlined the key features of FINE™/Marine, including the fully hexahedral meshes resulting in an optimal cell shape and the robust and accurate two-phase flow solver. He also stated:
“Benchmarked against other commercial codes, FINE™/Marine showed a strong reduction in CPU time for our type of applications. Main reason is that smaller mesh sizes are used while maintaining the same level of accuracy, or even better, when compared to experimental results.”
Ferrari is supporting CONI as its technical partner to optimize the Italian team’s boat for the 2012 Olympics and FINE™/Marine has been utilized by Ferrari to take the design tools to a higher level.
